“I still remember each of their faces… the babies I lost. Not a day goes by without their memories haunting me. We did everything we could, ran from hospital to hospital, and prayed every night. But we couldn’t save them. Now, my daughter…my little girl who holds my finger tightly when she’s in pain is slipping away too. I cannot bear to go through that loss again. I don’t know how I’ll live if I lose her. Please… I beg you, help me save her.” —Syed Mazloom Hussain, father

At just 3 years old, Syed Mazloom’s baby girl has been battling a rare inherited blood disorder where the body cannot produce enough platelets, leading to bleeding and bruising from early infancy. Doctors have told them that only a bone marrow transplant can offer her a permanent cure. Her elder sister, just 9 years old, has bravely stepped forward to be the donor. But the cost of the transplant—₹25 lakhs—is something the family simply cannot afford.

‘She can’t run, can’t play, and bleeds without warning… but still, she tries to smile’
The child’s health began worsening a few months after she was born. Her eyes would turn red, her body weak and pale, and she would bleed frequently—from her gums, her nose, even her skin. At one point, her eyes were filled with blood, and she had to be hospitalized for over a month, but the diagnosis took long to arrive. Her parents carried her from one hospital to another until finally, the truth emerged. All her life, she had to undergo painful blood transfusions simply to stay alive.
“She’s too weak to even stand for long. She stays at home and often cries that her knees hurt. She watches her elder sister go to school, but she can’t even play in the courtyard. Despite all this she smiles like an angel. She is not growing well like other children…if she does not get well soon, she might get life-threatening infections and that thought scares me.”— Syed Mazloom Hussain

‘I work overtime whenever I can. But no matter how many hours I work, we’re falling short’
Syed Mazloom, a daily wage labourer, has already spent ₹2 lakhs on his daughter’s treatment—everything from their savings and borrowed funds. But now they are out of options. The cost of the transplant is estimated at ₹25 lakhs, and the family has no property, no assets, and no one left to turn to. He has three children—the 9-year-old daughter, the ailing 3-year-old, and a 4-month-old infant. His wife is a housewife, and the burden of keeping the family afloat has fallen entirely on his shoulders.
“I haven’t stopped working—not even when I get sick. But it’s not enough. No matter how hard I work, I will never make the lakhs needed for her treatment. We’re running out of time, and I can’t do this alone. Please help us. Please save my daughter.”— Syed Mazloom HussainClick here to contribute.
